Use Table 43 to prepare to configure the partitions on the physical library.

• For the Number of Drives values, the best practice is to specify a maximum of 4 drives for DET.

• For the Media Type Checking and Return Identifier values, note that the settings can vary from

site to site and across firmware versions. Consult "Configuring a Physical Library for Pathlight VX"

in Pathlight VX Installation Guide.

Physical Library eVPS LUN Mapping for Libraries with a SNC

Use Table 44 through Table 46 on page 54 to prepare to map LUNs for libraries that have a SNC, such as

the Scalar 24, Scalar 100, Scalar 1000, and Scalar 10K. The tables provide information regarding what

drives are mapped to which blades on the MS. Sample data is provided in the first two tables.

In Table 44

on page 54, device positions 1200 and 1201 are daisy-chained together to make room for the

Library on SCSI 1.

The Pathlight VX is sensitive to when partitions and LUNs are mapped. A partition and its drives should be

mapped as LUNs together, prior to proceeding on to map the next partition and its drives as LUNs.

For example, consider a scenario where there are two partitions on a library.

• The first library partition and its 2 drives comprise 3 LUNs.

• The second library partition and its 2 drives comprise 3 LUNs.

You must map the first library partition and its LUNs prior to mapping the second library partition and its

LUNs. In the example above:

• Map the first partition’s LUNs:

• Part1 = LUN1

• Part1D1 = LUN2

• Part1D2 = L UN3

• Map the second partition’s LUNs:

• Part2 = LUN4

• Part2D1 = LUN5

• Part2D2 = LUN6

Note

When attaching physical libraries on Pathlight VX that is running Policy

Management, the best practice is that DET should have a separate dedicated

partition.
