Setting the Write-Protect Switch

Each tape cartridge has a write-protect switch similar to that

shown in figure 11

. This switch determines whether new data can

be written to the cartridge (

write-enabled

) or whether data on the

cartridge is protected from being erased or overwritten (

write-

protected

Proper Insertion Orientation

Refer to figure 11

for proper label placement, write protection

settings and insertion orientation.

cartridges. Do not adhere labels to a cartridge anywhere

except the slide-in slot.
